Most of our customers are collectors of vintage dresses and clothing from the 1940's and 1950's; admirers of the classic Hollywood Bombshell, Pinup and Hawaiian look. Most of our customers would never have considered buying a vintage "reproduction" dress until they found us because they just didn't think it could be done as well as this!

Whirlingturban was started by Katherine Robinson, a gal with an extensive background in Hollywood movie costuming, where authenticity of period garments is taken to the greatest possible extent. Even dyes and printing techniques true to the original 40's and 50's period are taken into consideration in our choice of fabrics. We use the same machinery and construction techniques used in the 40's and 50's vintage period whenever possible.

We have limited amounts of genuine vintage fabrics available to us occasionally, but mostly we use fibers and even weaves true to the vintage period; silk, rayon, and cotton. Lots of Hawaiian prints, always, but we have a truly amazing array of other choices as well.
